A ceremony brand that makes couples feel something before they call.
A full brand and website for David Newton-Gyle — a humanist celebrant in Northern Ireland — built to turn a warm, personal ceremony style into a site that books.

A gift that a website couldn’t convey.
David is an exceptional celebrant — the kind who has a room in fits of laughter one moment and in tears the next, because every ceremony is written entirely around the couple. But the wedding industry runs on first impressions, and couples choose a celebrant long before they ever meet one. They’re scrolling, comparing, feeling their way toward “this is the person who gets us.”
The challenge wasn’t listing services. It was making a visitor feel the warmth and personal care of a David ceremony through a screen — enough to pick up the phone. A generic celebrant template would have flattened the one thing that makes him worth booking.
Couples choose a celebrant on a feeling. The site had to carry that feeling, not just the facts.
Design the feeling first, then the pages.
We started with a warm, inclusive brand system — soft cream and sage, gold for warmth, editorial serif type — chosen to feel like David: calm, personal, and a world away from corporate. Then we built the site to lead with emotion and resolve into action.
- Brand & palette
A warm, inclusive identity — cream, sage, gold — that signals personal and unhurried before a single word is read.
- The ceremony timeline
A scroll-animated timeline walking a couple through the journey from first call to the day itself — the emotional centrepiece of the page.
- Real testimonials, placed to reassure
Genuine couple quotes positioned exactly where doubt creeps in, turning warmth into trust.
- A gentle booking flow
A “check your date” path designed to feel like an invitation, not a hard sell.
Soft on the surface. Solid underneath.
Hand-built on WordPress so David can update dates, add ceremonies and manage enquiries himself — without touching the design. The signature piece is a scroll-animated timeline, driven by a CSS custom property updated through an IntersectionObserver, so the journey draws itself into view as you read. Fast, accessible, and mobile-first, because most couples find their celebrant on a phone in the evening.

Warmth, made deliberate.
The whole system leans warm and low-contrast on purpose — a wedding is emotional, not corporate. Everything below is built to signal personal and unhurried before a visitor has read a single sentence.

A site that feels like him — and works like it should.
David is now a referral source into the wider Northern Ireland wedding industry — the strongest kind of result a wedding-sector site can produce.
At first I thought "here we go" — then I realised he was taking the time to truly understand me and my business. Seeing it for the first time was a real “wow” moment.
