Four years, one platform, itineraries clients actually read
Four years as the technical developer on a luxury safari platform — bespoke Google Maps, geolocated pricing, and a booking system built for multi-passenger trips.

Hide & Seek Travel sell African safaris — Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe — with a handful of other long-haul destinations besides. Every trip is bespoke: handpicked properties, a route built around the people travelling, and prices that run well into five figures a head. Nothing is off the shelf, and nothing is bought from one.
That makes the site’s job an unusual one. It isn’t selling a product — it’s producing a document. Each enquiry becomes a bespoke itinerary: the journey mapped stop by stop, property options at every one, per-person pricing in the client’s own currency, flight details and booking status, laid out to be printed or shared. The hard part was never a checkout. It was turning a travel agent’s craft into something a website could assemble and a client could hold.
- Bespoke country map
An interactive map of Africa with bidirectional hover — hovering a country lights it on the map and in the destination list, and vice versa.
- Geolocated pricing
Prices and phone numbers switched by visitor country through Cloudflare geolocation, across five currencies.
- Multi-passenger booking
A booking form with conditional passport capture, age derived from date of birth, and dietary wording that adapts from individual to group.
- Filterable properties
An Ajax properties archive filtered by country, region, award and board type, with the filter state held in the URL so a view can be shared.
